Guests Enjoy the 2011 Art of Passion
The YWCA Central Alabama held its sixth annual art fundraiser, Art of Passion, presented by RBC Bank, on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
In its sixth year, Art of Passion featured premier artists such as Art Bacon, Toby Klein, Joe Minter and many more. Everett Spruill was this year’s featured artist.
The evening’s festivities included food and entertainment by two of Birmingham’s local businesses: catering by Rose Anthony of LaRose and music by the Hosea Carr Jazz Group. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the programs of the YWCA that serve so many in the Birmingham community and beyond.
Malena Cunningham, Margaret Jones and Gwen Swain served as co-chairs of the event. Art of Passion committee members include Brooke Adams, Shayla Aguillard, Lajuana Bradford, Hallie Bradley, Michelle Brown, Rosie Butler, Mittie Cannon, Marquita Davis, April Deal, Cathy Friedman, Sara Hamlin, Jamika Kirk, Meg Cook Laney, Dasi Mosely, Joan Perry, Joyce Spielberger, Valerie Thomas, Valparisia Thomas, Yolanda Sullivan, Rose Walker and Bonika Wilson.
For over a century, YWCA Central Alabama has been responding to the needs of women and families. The YW’s programs and services serve women and children by providing: affordable child care for low-income families; child care and after-school enrichment programs for homeless children; affordable housing for families and seniors and a full array of domestic violence services. It is important that the entire community understand the needs of so many, for we are strong alone, but fearless together.
