YWCA Domestic Violence Activities During the Month of October 2007

Macy’s Brookwood Mall
To raise awareness about the horrific effects of Domestic Violence.  Victims, survivors and family members who have suffered the ill effects of domestic violence are given the opportunity to create a tee-shirt designed to send a message to the community about domestic violence.  Tee shirts will be displayed in the lobby of the YWCA.

Silent Witnesses
YWCA Lobby
To raise awareness in regards to domestic violence homicides in Jefferson County.  Each red silhouette represents an individual or family member that has died as a result of domestic violence.

Party with a Purpose

Community fair. YWCA Central Alabama Domestic Violence Services and resources will be displayed during event.

October 14, 2007
NCCJ Walk As One
Downtown Birmingham
The annual event will be held on October 14 at 1:30 pm in Linn Park.

Blount County Domestic Violence Office
Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Workshop                                                      
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Training for local law enforcement officers.

Chief Annetta Nunn CD Release Press Conference
YWCA Birmingham
2 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Chief Nunn has recorded a collection of inspirational songs produced by conductor/composer Dr. Henry Panion. All proceeds from the sale of the CD that will be released this month will benefit the YWCA Central Alabama and its programs for domestic violence victims.
