The staff of the Alys Stephens Center recently turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary day for the children in the YWCA Central Alabama’s Calico Corner and KIDS Korner child care programs, and for the students in our After-School Enrichment Program.
For an entire morning, the Alys Stephens Center staff spread their winter magic to some of the YW’s youngest participants. The Stephens’ staff used their diverse singing and musical talents to put on an unforgettable performance for our children. They danced and sang and encouraged the children to sing along to holiday songs!
To go along with the child care’s winter motif, the Alys Stephens Center staff helped the children create giant snowflakes which still adorn the wall of the child care indoor play area. To craft these masterpieces, each child created a colorful pattern and the individual drawings were attached together to form one big, beautiful snowflake! This was the highlight of the morning!
The day was equally as fun for the staff of the Alys Stephens Center as it was for the children. “We had a great time because we don’t usually get to do activities like that as a staff,” said Kimberly Kirklin, Alys Stephens Center Education and Outreach Director.
It was not only a day of fun, but also a day of learning that our children will never forget! Thank you to Theresa Bruno for facilitating this day and the wonderful staff of the Alys Stephens Center for sharing their time and talents, and for giving our children memories that will last a lifetime!
