Dear
Friends,
Friends give help, hope and security to each other. Will you become a friend to the YWCA Central Alabama? Every day, the YW provides safe shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence; a nationally accredited child care program for low-income and homeless families; and affordable housing for families trying to gain stability. We are able to provide these vital programs and services for women and families because of your financial support.
In need of a friend, Karen called the YWCA crisis line when she and her 6-year-old son fled their abusive home. Karen and her son are now living in the YW’s confidentially located emergency shelter and are receiving much-needed support services. While Karen works, her son, along with 30 other school-aged homeless children, attends the YW’s summer enrichment program. The children participate in self-esteem building activities, academic enrichment, creative learning classes, field trips, and outdoor recreation activities.
Your donation enables the YW to continue providing:
- affordable child care each week to over 60 low-income families;
- free child care for over 25 homeless preschoolers and school-aged children living in 12 area shelters;
- annual shelter assistance to over 450 families who are victims of domestic violence;
- legal advocacy and counseling support to over 800 women and children who witnessed violence in their homes; and
- affordable apartments for over 80 families, including seniors and those with special needs.
Will you help us meet the increasing needs of our community by becoming a Friend of the YW? Please make your tax-deductible gift online to help the YW continue giving assistance to families like Karen’s and many other women and children in central Alabama.
We hope you enjoy your summer. Thank you for your generosity.
