Child
Care
All children need direction to grow into productive,
strong adults. And for homeless and other at risk children, that direction
is so important if they have any chance of overcoming their seemingly
hopeless situations. So the YW has created several programs that help
them heal, feel loved, and learn more important skills they'll need
when they leave us.

KIDS (Kids in Distress) Korner
This YW day care provides a quality program for children from
the community homeless shelters while their parents look for work
and housing. The KIDS Korner curriculum focuses on building self-esteem
and security for children whose lives are in traumatic transition.
Children are often the forgotten victims of homelessness.
Calico
Corner Child Care
The YW offers this program to address the critical shortage of quality,
licensed, affordable child care for children of working families
in our community. Calico Corner serves predominantly working poor
families, including many single parent families and formerly homeless
families.
After-School
Enrichment Program for Homeless Children (ASEP)
This after-school program gives children, who are living in the
community shelters, the extra attention and support they need
during the school year by providing them with tutors and academic
enrichment activities. The YW works as liaisons between parents,
shelters, and counselors to ensure that the children's academic
and emotional needs are being met.
