Crisis Intervention Services Specialist

Summary:

The YWCA of Central Alabama is looking for a Crisis Intervention Services Specialist to provide supportive services to FVC Clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Crisis Intervention Services Liaison with recruiting diverse volunteer candidates.

  • Assist with conducting a minimum of three training classes each year, more as necessary, to maintain an adequate number of volunteers

  • Provide ongoing support for crisis line volunteers and interns

  • Maintain adequate and updated referral resources and supplies for crisis line operations

  • Assist with providing coverage of the crisis line and shelter supportive services

  • Provide case management to FVC shelter residents as needed

  • Provide emergency night & weekend on-call coverage of crisis line and shelter supportive services on rotating basis

  • Represent the agency and/or program at meetings and community events as requested

  • Adhere to the policies of the YWCA and program standards as approved by ACADV

  • Maintain accurate, detailed statistics.

  • Attend staff meetings

  • All other duties as assigned by Crisis Intervention Services Coordinator or the FVC Coordinator

Critical Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a crisis-driven, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work within a team

Key Qualifications:
 
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field; Master’s degree preferred    
  • Experience on crisis hotline or experience working in shelter preferred

  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License and driving record acceptable by agency’s insurance company

  • Ability to work some evening shifts, including a regular Monday evening shift
