Domestic Violence Services Specialist AmeriCorps Member
YWCA Central Alabama is currently hiring for its Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program in the area of educational support. Qualified candidates interested in full-time, paid service to the community are welcomed to apply.
The DVS Specialist provides support and assistance for operations of St. Clair County satellite office and shelter service delivery for victims of domestic violence and their children, including crisis intervention services, assist with providing safety planning services, housing, and legal advocacy and outreach education. The Specialist will serve directly with victims and survivors of domestic violence that could trigger physical, psychological and/or emotional responses in individuals who may have witnessed or survived domestic violence in their own lives. It is recommended that individuals who are currently experiencing domestic violence or have a recent DV experience (within the last two years) carefully consider whether this is an appropriate placement. While the disclosure is not required or mandatory, it should be offered to applicants as an important consideration.
Academic and Experience Qualifications:
AmeriCorps positions start September 3 and conclude August 14, 2020. All positions are full-time, Monday through Friday during normal business hours with some evening and weekend expectations. Members must be able to serve during the day each day. Some college is required. A passion for serving the community and commitment of one year is expected of all.
