The YWCA Central Alabama will hold its 28th Annual Mother's Day Flower Sale on Friday, May 10, 2013.
KIDS Korner provides a safe, loving environment for homeless children to learn, play and re-discover joy. KIDS Korner ensures that they receive special care and individual attention during times of family crisis by providing a unique curriculum designed for the transitional nature of homelessness. Since 1989, the program has provided quality care to over 1,700 infants, toddlers and preschoolers who live in area homeless shelters. The program is free to parents and helps them to find work, participate in job training programs or seek housing, free from child care worries.0th. Each year, the YWCA's Junior Board holds the Flower Sale to benefit KIDS (Kids in Distress) Korner, the YW's child care for homeless children. This year's Flower Sale raised critical funds for KIDS Korner!
This year's Mother's Day Flower Sale will begin more than two months before the public sale with pre-sales solicited by representatives at Birmingham area companies. Over 70 company representatives played a critical role in the success of Flower Sale with pre-sales. The public Flower Sale will be held the Friday before Mother's Day with sales at two tent locations in Birmingham: the Harbert Plaza in downtown Birmingham and the Ray & Poynor building in Mountain Brook Village. There will also be satellite locations at Children's of Alabama and Brookwood Medical Center.
The YWCA KIDS Korner is the city's only child care facility for the area homeless. Since 1989, the program has provided quality care to over 1,600 infants, toddlers and preschoolers who live in area homeless shelters. The program is free to parents and helps them to find work, participate in job training programs or seek housing.
Thank you to the YW Junior Board and all other volunteers who help make the Annual Mother's Day Flower Sale a huge success for the YWCA's KIDS Korner.
