permanent housing for seniors
The YWCA offers a continuum of residential programs for seniors and
disabled individuals. The YW currently operates two permanent housing
facilities specifically tailored to the needs of this population in Birmingham’s
Avondale neighborhood and in Homewood, Alabama.
Rosedale Senior Housing Located in Homewood, these eight
individual senior homes provide housing opportunities for low-income
elderly and disabled individuals. Each one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit is
wheelchair accessible and all electric. View Photos of a Rosedale

Monthly rent, excluding utilities, varies by income. Interested
individuals must obtain a Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8).
Four Winds East These 14 units of housing for low-income elderly and
disabled individuals are located in the Avondale community. Each onebedroom,
one-bathroom home unit is wheelchair accommodated. Supportive
services are offered as an option through Collat Jewish Family Services.

Who is eligible? Individuals interested in either Rosedale or Four Winds
East must meet the following criteria:
- 62 years or older or Disabled, non-elderly (at Four Winds only)
- Income eligible
