Each day, 3 women lose their lives at the hands of an intimate partner.
Nearly 3 out of every four Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence.
In 2015, 5,743 people in Jefferson County were assaulted, raped or killed by someone who claimed to love them.
TOGETHER, WE CAN TAKE A STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is an annual event hosted by the YWCA Junior Board, and is focused on raising awareness about domestic violence in our community. This event brings together men and women, families, community leaders, businessmen, students and the general public to take a stand against this widespread problem while raising essential funds to support the YWCA Central Alabama’s domestic violence programs and services.
For more information, please contact YW Director of Special Events Erica Sellers at firstname.lastname@example.org or 205.322.9922.
