YWCA Family Resource Center
The YWCA Family Resource Center is a multi-purpose facility in the heart of the YWoodlawn campus. It was established in 2011 to provide programming and information, first for residents in YWoodlawn housing and secondly for the greater Woodlawn community.
SCHEDULE: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday
(Schedule varies for weekend, school year, and summer programming and during inclement weather)
Who do we serve?
Programs at the FRC serve children (age 4 & older), teenagers, adults, and senior adults
What do we offer?
We have educational, performance art, nutritional, visual art and life skills-based offerings. We also offer youth development programming (to include healthy relationships and a program that discourages bullying and discrimination).
There are also after-school enrichment opportunities for school-age children served by the YW. These programs address academic and emotional needs of each child and provide youth with the extra attention and support they need to improve learning outcomes.
How can I help?
We collaborate with community partners such as: ArtPlay, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Jefferson State Community College, Alabama Humanities Foundation, The Alliance Re-Entry Center of Bessemer and others.
We enjoy the support of volunteers and generous corporate, foundation, and private funding, including individual donors. All programs, services, and events are free of charge to those we serve.
